EXPERIENCE

Joined the Delhi Cloth & General Mills (Shri Ram Group) as a Senior Management Trainee in 1965. Was posted to the Jay Engineering Works, Calcutta in 1966 as Sales Co-ordination Officer for Usha Sewing Machine Works. Responsibilities covered production-sales co-ordination between the factory and branches all over India, State godown control, goods movement planning and control, export orders execution, etc.

In 1968, was asked to take over the Purchase Department of Usha Sewing Machine Works for purpose of improving materials management procedures and effecting cost reduction.

Left in 1970 for 3 years in USA on special leave on an East West Centre, Honolulu grant. Got the Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Hawaii in 18 months with Scholastic honors. Thereafter worked for a little over a year with Xerox Corporation, Honolulu as a Sales Executive where I received an award for Excellence. Have traveled extensively in USA, Europe and Asia visiting various organizations to study their industrial operations on behalf of the East West Centre. Returned in October 1973 to Jay Engineering Works as a Senior Executive in their Usha Fan Industries, in charge of commercial activities and understudy to the Joint General Manager who was responsible for marketing, materials management, personnel, legal matters, accounts and factory administration.

Left Jay Engineering Works in 1974 to join Williard India Limited, an Indo-American JT. Venture, as their Commercial Manager with responsibility for project implementation, commercial activities and personnel.

In August 1973 became the Resident Director of ABC Consultants Private Limited at Delhi. From October, 1976 worked with a much bigger consulting organization namely M M Suri & Associates Private Limited as head of their management services division.

In December 1979 took over as Managing Director of MANTEC Consultants Private Limited, New Delhi. Activities cover project turnkey assignments including development projects, Joint Ventures, Technology transfer, personnel selection and training, computer services bureau, Industrial engineering and productivity improvement assignments, Environment Management & Pollution Control etc. Significant achievements have been in successfully establishing Industrial Joint Ventures between the East and West involving cross-cultural issues. Have been teaching Business Policy and International Marketing as a visiting professor to the Centre of Systems & Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, was responsible for giving a thrust to the Environment Management & Pollution Control expertise in India by initiating and implementing successfully a close working relationship between Mantec and Sinclair Knight & Partners, Australia. Has recently done a regional study in Africa under the sponsorship of UNIDO to assist implement the Montreal Protocol through recovery and recycling of refrigerants.

Implemented international consultancy assignments and technology transfer between India and Thailand, Tanzania, Australia, USA etc.

Conducted successfully many seminars and self development workshops in India and USA.
